November 2023 — ISC2, the world’s leading cybersecurity certification body, has announced its support for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Deep Tech Talent Initiative, pledging to train one million individuals in cybersecurity by 2025. This global effort aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in deep tech industries, particularly in cybersecurity, where workforce shortages continue to rise.
As part of its commitment, ISC2 is offering 2,700 free Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) training courses and exams to individuals across EU Member States and Horizon Europe partner countries. The initiative targets university students, career changers, and professionals seeking to expand their skills and enter the cybersecurity field.
The CC certification provides foundational knowledge in security principles, network protection, access controls, and incident response—making it an ideal entry point for those new to the industry. Upon passing the exam, candidates become ISC2 members, gaining access to exclusive resources and professional development opportunities.
ISC2’s 2023 Workforce Study revealed a 12% year-over-year increase in demand for cybersecurity professionals across Europe, with over 260,000 roles currently unfilled. This initiative is a strategic move to close that gap and build a resilient, diverse talent pipeline.
UPDATE: August 2025 – Exams and training are still available for those interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity. No prior experience is required—just a passion for problem-solving and a drive to protect digital infrastructure.
