ICO Fines HelloFresh £140,000 for Spam Marketing Violations

12 January 2024 – In January 2024, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) fined HelloFresh £140,000 for sending millions of unsolicited marketing emails and texts. The campaign violated Regulation 22 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), which governs direct marketing communications. The ICO found that HelloFresh failed to obtain valid consent and did not offer clear opt-out mechanisms.
